Bond was set at $200,000 Thursday for a Hamilton man indicted by a Butler County grand jury in a fatal crash last summer that killed a 64-year-old woman in Liberty Twp., according to court records.

Charles Lee Sullivan III, 40, is charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, possession of cocaine and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, all felonies, for the Aug. 13 crash that killed Hue Nguyen.

Sullivan was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Ohio 129 when he crashed head-on into Nguyen, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office crash report.

Nguyen, a nail technician at True Nails in Hamilton, was traveling from her residence in Franklin to Hamilton when her vehicle was hit head on by Sullivan, according to investigators. She died of her injuries on Oct. 7.

According to investigators and prosecutors, Sullivan was pulled over for a traffic violation on Ohio 129 and fled. He went the wrong way down 129 and stuck Nguyen’s vehicle near the intersection at Interstate 75. Cocaine was found in Sullivan’s vehicle, according to officials.

As a nail technician, to her younger clients, Nguyen was a mother figure, and to her older clients and colleagues, she was like a sister, her family said. She was known for her hard work, often working 10-hour days, six days a week, tirelessly supporting her family, her daughter said.

Sullivan is scheduled to be back in Butler County Common Pleas Court on Jan 14.
